Picking The Right Bike!

In the last couple of decades a major shift has been happening in transportation. Before the car was transport of choice but recently however the use of push bikes has become increasingly popular. This trend can be attributed to the idea of keeping things 'green' in a bid to take care of our planet. It doesn't hurt that gas is increasing in price either! The fact is there are plenty more cyclists on the road now than there were just a few years ago. Have you been tempted to use a bike for your everyday transport needs? Here are some hints to help you choose the cycling bicycle that is right for you.

We’d be misleading you if we didn’t admit that fashion does impact your decision. We all like one color or style more than another. You’d be silly not to pay attention to these factors when getting your new bike. Obviously, the style and fashion elements of the bicycle should not be your top priority (unless the bicycle is just for show). You really need to look at safety and comfort issues before any others. After finding bikes that are both safe and comfy, then you can see which ones look the best to you.

For road bikes take away 9 inches from the total of your inseam. This is to account for the size of tires you will use on a road bike. Designed for cycling around the city road bike tires are thin. For a mountain bike take away 12 inches from your inseam. Again this is to account for the size of tires. You will find them to be much bigger and designed to handle rocky terrain. You can of course use a mountain bike for road cycling but this isn't supposed to be their primary use.

Don’t forget to buy your safety gear. Bicycle helmets are something completely different than they once were. They are now designed to offer better protection while looking a bit like this better, as well. It is important that you never ride your bicycle without also wearing your helmet. You don't even realize how important this thing can be in saving your life.

If you are going to be taking your bike off road, then you need to also invest in some knee and elbow pads, as well as ankle and wrist guards. Another piece of safety equipment that you should think about getting are pants clips, especially if you are going to be using your bike as a primary mode of transportation. They work by clipping your pants out of the way so they can't get tangled in the chain or gears.

As you can see, there are several things you should keep in mind when you decide on a bicycle that's right for you. It can become a bit overwhelming when going shopping for a bike and accessories because there is just so much to choose from. Take your time and do some research and you’ll find the right bike before you know it.
